This is a PER DIEM position for the all shifts, days, evening, nights, and weekend.

The Assessment and Referral Counselor provides telephonic and in person risk assessment and crisis intervention, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, determines for appropriate level of care, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff. The Admissions/ARC Counselor maintains responsibility for phone management and completion of the admission process by effectively communicating cases to the Shift Coordinator.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Staff must demonstrate knowledge and skill in provision of services to various populations including children, adolescents, adults, older adults and dually diagnosed patients in an inpatient and partial hospital setting.

Education: Bachelors Degree in Counseling, Psychology or Human Services field with at least five years experience Masters degree preferred, with two years prior experience.

Experience: Prior intake, assessment, admission and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in an inpatient setting.
