About this job

The Counselor Aide provides direct patient care to individuals with substance abuse or chemical dependency problems or those dual-diagnosed with mental illness and CD disorders under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis interventions, patient education, and activities of daily living.

Associates or Bachelors Degree in psychology or related field highly preferred or high school diploma with one year relevant experience

in the psychiatric or chemical dependency treatment field.

Six months experience working with a psychiatric or chemical dependency patient population.

Must possess knowledge of therapeutic relationship processes, CD/12-Step group processes, age-specific growth and development, limit

setting, behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors and CPR training.
