Job Summary The Office of Medical Student Education at the University of Michigan Medical School (UMMS) is seeking an administrative specialist for its longitudinal learning community (M-Home). Within the M-Home, each medical student will be assigned to one of four Houses, composed of 40-45 classmates for each year of study (i.e. total of 170+ students within each House composed of M1-M4 medical students and MD/PhD students). Each House will be led by a faculty House Director and the Houses will serve as the basis to support student development throughout their time at UMMS. The M-Home is an essential component of the new curricular revision intended to educate and train the next generation of physician leaders.

Responsibilities* 1) CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT (30%)

o Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to support the developmental courses and experiences within the M-Home (e.g. Doctoring, Professional Identity & Balance)

o Partner with faculty, staff, and students to assist in the integration of the M-Home with different student experiences across the curriculum (e.g. Paths of Excellence, Leadership, Clinical Trunk)

o Attend regional, national, and international conferences to present UMMS curriculum innovations, network with peers, and further refine professional skill sets

2) COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT (50%)

o Provide administrative support to the House Directors to support their activities within the M-Home

o Assist the House Directors to define, organize, recruit, and implement administrative staffing needs of the M-Home

o Facilitate and promote a collegial environment through effective communication and collaboration with faculty, staff, and students across the learning community

o Engage with student groups and the Office of Medical Student Education (OMSE) to support initiatives that support the M-Home

o Assist in facilitating connections between students, student groups, and faculty within the learning community

o Assist in planning, administration, and oversight of initiatives and special events to support the learning community

3) CURRICULUM ADMINISTRATION & REVIEW

o Assist the House Directors with reviewing faculty and staff performance

o Collaborate with the Director of Curriculum and Compliance to assist in the implementation of the evaluation process for the medical curriculum

o Liaise with students, faculty, and staff to fulfill learning objectives and curricular compliance with Liaison Committee on Medication Education (LCME) accreditation standards

Required Qualifications* 1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

2. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students in a team-oriented environment.

4. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cooperatively with others in a fast-paced, changing environment.

5. Strong administrative and organizational skills, with capacity to problem-solve and accomplish tasks independently.

6. Experience in managing large-scale academic programs or courses.
