As an IT professional you have expert knowledge in one or more programming languages or databases. Because of your excellent understanding of the entire project life cycle, you have the ability to direct project teams in the gathering, design, and development of complex applications/programs. You get to work closely with and learn from the brightest minds to ensure proper system design. Your role ensures highest quality implementations from design through quality insurance to production. You anticipate hardware and software design needs to take pre-emptive action. Our IT professionals support multiple team members and other project leads in day-to-day activities related to project work.

The candidate will have responsibility and accountability for design and coding of various assignments across multiple projects. The Senior Developer has expert knowledge in one or more programming languages or databases. The candidate must have an excellent understanding of the IT project life cycle, trends in the IT landscape and be able to influence IT leadership on streamlining those processes. This person must be able to present ideas to IT review boards and business leadership. As a result, this person must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. The Senior Developer must work closely with Lead Developers to ensure proper system design, and ensure highest quality implementations from design through QA to production.

This position is in the IT group that supports the business unit responsible for financial services and electronic payments. The successful candidate would preferably have some experience in electronic payments processing, including credit card and debit card processing. Knowledge of the payments card industry will also be a helpful characteristic of the successful candidate.

• Investigate issues, determine root cause, and remediate the issue via a code fix
• Develop scripts, monitors, dashboards to improve visibility into secure financial systems
• Cover on call rotation with minimal direction once trained on the credit systems applications
• Provide day to day credit settlement support
• Deep dive into production issues and remediate to mitigate financial loss

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -

• Retail Industry experience is a plus.
• Electronic Payments or Financial Services Industry experience is a plus
• BS Computer Science or related field, MS a plus.
• Java, Informix, DB2, J2EE, RAD (Eclipse), Struts.
• JAVA UI, HTML5 and jQuery required.
• J2EE / RESTful Web Services for custom development, a plus.
• Motivated with a strong sense of urgency and able to convey urgency to project teams.
• Experience developing new application systems for production.
• Experience in software development in a highly matrixed environment.

• Good communication abilities, should be able talk to technical peers and non-technical business partners.
• Good research skills, ability to dig into incidents from many angles, develop a whole picture understanding, propose/provide solutions and relate the information to others.
• Excellent diagnostic skills, should be able to quickly diagnose issues and devise an immediate solution to correct or recover any data that may have affected and develop long term perminate break fix solutions.

• Team player, should be able to play a mentor role to other team members.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -

Define, plan and implement solutions on assigned moderately complex projects.

Take business requirements and develop the total technical design on moderately complex projects and ensure proper usage as part of the design efforts in building a system to be put into production.

Conduct appropriate test reviews for assigned projects and present to architecture review boards as necessary.

Promote and follow the established processes, policies, standards and procedures to assure compliance with corporate and regulatory policies and standards.

Provide technical direction to associate developers, developers and contractors.


NATURE AND SCOPE -

Typically reports to Manager, Information Technology.

Responsible for helping others and providing on-the-job training or guidance.


ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -

Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must pass the Drug Test.
Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.

EDUCATION REQUIRED -

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
