Staff Accountant

POSITION PURPOSE

Our Finance & Accounting professionals manage a broad range of business and financial issues that enable our Stores, Merchants and Internal clients to make critical business decisions.

The Staff Accountant will be assigned to an area within one of our Accounting groups: Cash, Sales & Customs, Financial Accounting, Financial Reporting, Financial Integration, SOX and Financial Systems. Individuals will analyze financial reports and records, and prepares studies or recommendations relative to accounting.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Prepares and analyzes income and balance sheet statements, consolidated statements and various other accounting statements and reports.
• Reviews and verifies the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records.
• Applies Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and develops or recommends accounting methods and procedures.
• Instructs or assigns work to bookkeepers, accounting clerks and other associates engaged in general accounting activities.
• Coordinates accounting matters with other departments, locations and divisions.
• Participates in financial reporting.

NATURE AND SCOPE

• This position typically reports to a Senior Staff Accountant.
• No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the leadership of a work group: assign and review work, train and contribute to performance appraisal (but not hiring, firing or disciplinary action).

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Located in a comfortable indoor area.
• Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
• Examples include: telephone operator and file clerk.
• Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be eighteen years of age
• Must pass the Drug Test
• Must pass the Background Check
• Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about.
• On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Seeking top Graduate and Undergraduate level Accounting Majors graduating in May 2015
• GPA 3.0 or higher

• Financial Analysis
• Written and Verbal communications skills
• Computer application skills such as Excel, Access, General Ledger, etc
• Must be able to multi-task and balance multiple high priority tasks.
