Summary: The Human Resources Generalist position supports the Human Resources Manager in all aspects of HR including, but not limited to, the development, implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of the following areas:

  • Employee health and welfare benefits administration

  • Payroll administration

  • Employee disciplinary and/or or counseling

  • Background Screening to New Hire Process

  • Unemployment law

  • Workers’ compensation

  • Employee FMLA/LOA compliance

  • Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS)

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.

  • Administers employee benefit programs including life, disability, and health plans, 401(k) plan and FMLA.

  • Regularly audits and reconciles all benefit program billings prior to submittal for payment ensuring that all fees are accurate and that employees are accurately enrolled and employee contributions are regularly forwarded to the carriers. Resolves administrative problems with the carrier representatives.

  • Ensures the accuracy of all benefit enrollments in the HRIS and on-line enrollment systems to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.

  • Coordinates with the Recruiter and executes background check and new-hire paperwork is completed.

  • Performs new hire process of employee from time of background check and enters all information into HRIS system. Ensures all terminations are entered timely.

  • Enters wage and status changes in the HRIS.

  • Sends correspondences to appropriate individuals of new hires and terminations employees

  • Oversees maintenance of employee files, assuring accuracy, compliance and confidentially. i.e.: garnishments, unemployment claims, verifications, I9 status and State regulations, benefits

  • Regularly reviews time records making note of exceptions and communicating with supervisors/managers to ensure missing punches are minimized.

  • Updates and maintains employee information in time clock and payroll systems ensuring that all data is correct.

  • Calculates and verifies wages for employees ensuring wage and salary payments are made according to compensation.

  • Prepares manual/instant payroll checks as necessary for the purpose of correcting payroll discrepancies or issuance of final paychecks.

  • Administrates and maintains employee FTO accrued time

  • Transmits payroll upon review and approval of the Chief Financial Officer.

  • Maintains and organizes company confidential payroll files.

  • Prepares employee census annually to get quotes from insurers and providers of health benefits and participates in the selection of appropriate carriers on basis of quotes, benefits offered, and previous company experience.

  • Complies with the provisions of COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA and prepares reports with state and federal agencies for the approval of the Human Resources Director.

  • Performs open enrollment activities including hosting and facilitating employee meetings, communicating with vendors and collecting all necessary documents.

  • Prepares employee benefit education packages ensuring that the materials are made available at all times.

  • Inputs all employee benefits information into the human resources management system and regularly reviews payroll records to ensure that employee deductions are made accurately .

  • Coordinates human resources procedures to initiate benefits such as employee enrollments, distributions, disability insurance, 401K and FTO payouts.

  • Respond to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts.

  • Facilitates Workers’ Compensation, field accident claims and maintains reports

  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.

  • Prepares and Represents Company responses for unemployment claims/hearings.

  • Verifies that all payroll tax filings are made and works with service providers on all discrepancies found.

  • Prepares documents and reports with pertinent information related for the preparation of the Annual Form 5500 submitting all document for approval.

  • Assists in coordinating company social activities.

  • Prepares reports for the CFO and Human Resources Director as prompted

  • Answers payroll inquiries and resolves all discrepancies as they arise.

  • Responsible for responding to verification of employment requests and responds within established company guidelines.

  • Corresponds with the unemployment insurance offices on requests for information and participates on telephonic hearings as necessary.

  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.

  • Participates in developing department goals; objectives and systems.

  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.

  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed. Other duties deemed as assigned and/or necessary
