We have a large manufacturer in the lower East Bay that manufactures seats for Tesla and other automotive industries that is looking for a production supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Essential: Certificate in Manufacturing Management or Frontline Management
  • Relevant Occupational Health and Safety qualifications
  • Desirable: Certificate IV in Workplace Training & assessment

Experience

  • Proven experience in a similar role within a JIT/sequenced seating environment
  • Experience in managing employees within a manufacturing environment
  • Application of Lean concepts and manufacturing principles
  • Proven customer service orientation
  • Project management experience on small to medium improvement projects.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to promote a team environment
  • Knowledge of OHSW&E standards and processes
  • Sound knowledge of lean manufacturing systems and principles as well as TS16949 and APQP.
  • Working knowledge in MS Word and Excel

KRA Time Key Tasks

Manufacturing35%

  • Communicate daily production status against targets via daily meeting on OEE, downtime, first time through, finished goods levels, part shortages, labor shortages and safety issues.
  • Daily review of labor planning and utilization to ensure required outputs are achievable with in allocated budgets.
  • Recommend and plan for overtime if required.
  • Ensure all products are supplied in full and on time and escalate any possible delivery delays to Product Group Leader.
  • Maintain quality standards by contributing to the certification and training of TS16949.
  • Work together with the operational development team to validate new production processes in the work area.
  • Liaise with engineering, quality, MP&L and maintenance on any current product and process issues that arise.
  • Facilitate and encourage continuous improvement initiatives which are in line with Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Ensure standard production process and documentation is available, updated and adhered to by Team Members at all times.
  • Analyze end of line defects and production issues and recommend appropriate solutions.

  1. OHS&E 25%
  • Drive behavior that encourages Team Leaders and Team members to operate in a safe work environment.
  • Drive safety awareness via team and ensure safety, rules, procedures and process are adhered to at all times.
  • Ensure adequate induction and training of all employees and compliance to OHS&E systems and processes.
  • Support the development and implementation of operational work systems/processes that keep people safe at work.
  • Participate in the formal investigation process of all incident/hazard raised with in the product group work area.
  • Ensure all safety actions/hazard are addressed, closed on time and effectively communicated across the team.
  • Ensure work station rotations are followed and safe ergonomic principles and techniques are adhered to at all times.
  • Monitor, maintain and participate in safety systems that encourage cross functional teams.
  • Perform safety audits across the product group and ensure appropriate action is taken on all issues identified.
  • Contribute towards safety audits and environmental standards.

  1. People Management 30%
  • Drive behaviors that are in line with company goals and values.
  • Communicate and maintain clear goals and objectives for all Team Members.
  • Review and update daily timesheets into payroll system.
  • Ensure all employees are trained in their roles and training matrix is up to date.
  • Ensure ongoing performance of Team Members performance and behaviour in areas such as productivity, attendance, OH&S and quality.
  • Participate in recruitment and selection activities including short listing and interviewing for team vacancies.
  • Build and maintain an effective working relationships at all levels of the business to ensure effective change management and industrial relations.

KRA Time Key Tasks

  1. Cost Control & Optimization 10%
  • Actively promote and implement lean manufacturing principles (as per Futuris Global Production System - GPS).
  • Track and monitor departmental costs and highlight variance.
  • Ensure constant review of labor levels and adjust in line with volume.
  • Participate in the review of product/process & support root cause analysis in conjunction with product group team.
  • Assist/support corrective actions which result in elimination/reduction of scrap, hazards and Right First time.
