JOB FUNCTION: Supervises production employees in the fabrication and processing of Specialty Product and or Aerospace Transparencies.



REQUIREMENTS: Technical knowledge related to the field of manufacturing, experience in management including human resources and labor relations, effective leadership and supervision of multiple support functions and staff operating in a team concept.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

The function of the Production Supervisor is to support the PPG Sierracin corporate initiative to accomplish the goals of the business unit. Primarily the job function is responsible in the manufacturing environment to develop and maintain the day to day activities in production and supervision of the staff involved in manufacturing product efficiently and of the highest quality to meet our customers' expectations. The Production Supervisor is responsible for assuring that the department staff has the tools, training and resources needed to perform the functions of daily production.



Qualifications



EDUCATION:

Preferred Bachelor’s degree, equivalent education or experience

EXPERIENCE:

3-5 years of leadership or manufacturing supervisor experience or equivalent.

· Complies with all EH&S rules and regulations as well as actively participating in new EH&S systems development and implementation.
  • Follows direction of functional Cell Manager to meet daily production schedules and reports status.
  • Works as a team with functional area supervisors and managers to accomplish objectives and meet customer requirements of quality, service and performance expectations.
  • Supports and communicates information in a timely manner between the company and employees.
  • maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Responsible for identifying and eliminating waste in all phases of the production processes.
  • Trains, cross-trains, and prepares yearly performance reviews and disciplinary actions while taking steps required to help employees improve/develop in both instances.
  • Identifies and recommends proper staffing levels based on production needs.
  • Monitors and controls cost of manufacturing, including material usage and overtime.
  • Reviews workmanship and handling related problems.
  • Recognizes and addresses process problems with production and engineering.
  • Assures proper maintenance of equipment and tooling.
  • Ensure necessary supplies and tools are provided.
  • Supervises accurate and timely reporting of WIP movement.
  • Understands lean manufacturing and SPC principles and applies them within the production environment.
  • Monitor, control and report employee labor efficiency to work order standards.
