Registered Nurse (RN) -- Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

West Houston Medical Center is currently looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) -- Progressive Care Unit (PCU).

Responsibilities:

Under the general direction of the Director, ICU/PCU or Charge Nurse, the Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit/PCU is responsible for professional nursing care and related assistance to patients experiencing critical illnesses requiring admission to the Unit. The Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care/PCU Unit supports the medical care of patients requiring Intensive Care services under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the mission and objectives of the Hospital.

Demonstrates the facility's Standards of Performance, ICARE values, and Patient Promise.

Assesses, monitors, records, reports, and follows through on symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.

Creates and maintains accurate, detailed reports and records.

Consults and coordinates with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and modify the plan of care, as indicated by the patient's responses and conditions.

Delegates nursing tasks as appropriate and safe, but retains accountability for patient care

Provides individualized education for the patient, family, and or caregiver throughout the continuum of care.

Adheres to standards of safety and infection control, in the delivery of patient care.

Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of and complies with all policies and procedures related to the performance of job duties

Qualifications:

Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse.

BLS /ACLS from the American Heart Association.

Previous experience in critical care nursing preferred with at least one year of experience on a Tele/Medical-Surgical Nursing Unit.

Certification in critical care nursing--i.e., CCRN--preferred.
