About this job

Under physician direction, administers respiratory care and life support procedures to patients of all ages with deficiencies and abnormalities of cardiopulmonary system.

Accountable for adhering to ORMC mission, including meeting behavioral expectations, providing excellence in health care delivery, supporting dignity of all persons and responsible stewardship of resources.

Administers respiratory care and life support procedures to patients of all ages with deficiencies and abnormalities of cardiopulmonary system.

Monitors and evaluates patient progress to ensure physician orders are being followed and respiratory care services are provided in a professional and caring environment.

Ensures respiratory care equipment is being used correctly and is in proper working condition. Respiratory care equipment may be required for patients hospitalized or in their home.

Assists patients and family members with respiratory services, including equipment maintenance, safety precautions, and emergency information to ensure quality care is being provided.

Documents respiratory therapy procedures in patient charts to ensure physicians and other staff members have current and accurate information.

Under physician direction, may interpret patient procedure information to ensure accurate respiratory care services are being provided.

Ensures applicable regulatory requirements are complied with and follows guidelines that maintain safety for oneself, patients, visitors and co-workers.

Adheres to the HCA Code of Conduct.

Attends annual Code of Conduct training.

Position requires minimum Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) designation, graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program, and licensure in the State of Utah.

ACLS, BCLS, and PALS Certificates.

NALS and STABLE for NICU trained therapists.

Requires employee to remain on feet during 8 -- 12 hour shift and job includes considerable walking to perform treatment on patients.

Requires employee to have good motor skills in order to perform treatments.

Requires employee to be adequately immunized against infectious diseases due to high risk of exposure.
