DESCRIPTION:

This is an administrative work assisting the Florida Department of Health in Miami Dade Human Resource office. Work involves general office duties using different type of computer software and databases, such as Impromptu, Outlook, Excel, Word etc. This position is crossed trained with other HR positions to perform fingerprints, pre-employment screenings and simple classification packages.

The incumbent on this position is responsible for running reports to create HR indicators using impromptu software and programmatically reports upon internal customers demand.

Writes employment verification letters and replies verbal verification of employment.

Answers phone calls and direct calls to appropriate parties or takes messages; answers general questions about HR.

Assists the HR manager scheduling conference rooms for meetings and HR trainings such as the Basic Supervisory training, HR liaison quarterly meetings, etc. Attends meetings to record minutes.

Performs general office duties, orders supplies, creates purchase requisitions and work orders for couriers.

Receives, sorts and distributes incoming correspondence, including faxes and supplies.

Creates identification badges for new employees and current employees when needed.

Creates TRAIN accounts for New Employees, Interns and Volunteers.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Knowing how to find information and identifying essential information.

The ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.

Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems

Knowledge of employment laws, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, department rules, and policies and processes. (Preferred)

Knowledge of basic management principles and practices, and ability to conduct fact-finding research and analyze labor relations strategies. (Preferred)

Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems. (Preferred)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of administrative experience.

Administrative (related to Human Resources) experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
