The Chip Center of Excellence team within Global Products and Solutions is responsible for developing, managing and deploying advanced payment products across Discover Financial Services. These products are based on technologies such as EMV and Contactless (i.e. NFC). EMV is a specification for secure transactions between cards with integrated chips (chip cards), POS terminals capable of reading chip cards, issuers and acquirers. The EMV specifications broadly impact the payment ecosystem from card issuing to merchant acquiring. D-PAS is Discover Financial Services EMV-compliant payment specification.

This position will be responsible for driving the implementation of these products by external clients, and ensuring that internal client-support teams are enabled to deliver the products to market to ensure continued acceptance parity in the US. Key areas of focus will include:

Managing strategic activities for deploying Discovers EMV products (i.e. D-PAS): set direction and provide implementation support, subject matter expertise, and overall guidance to Merchants, Acquirers, Merchant Processors, Issuers and Issuer Processors.
Providing subject matter expertise and consultative input to business partners and vendors including internal business partners, terminal vendors, gateways and ISVs.

Liaison for Chip Center of Excellence and across Discover Network, Diners Club International, and PULSE to ensure needed support is delivered for EMV related activities.

This employee will build relationships with Merchants, Acquirers, Merchant Processors, Issuers and Issuer Processors by acting as a key source of information for the operations and sales teams and being the subject matter expert throughout partner product implementations.

5. Achieves or surpasses EMV deployment goals
6. Support product management in deployment efficiency programs
7. Develop and gain cross-departmental agreement on methods for researching, communicating and evaluating advanced payments opportunities
8. Support EMV product management in assessing, performing POCs (Proof of Concept) and deploying any new EMV products or enhancements

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree required, Masters Degree preferred
• The candidate must have extensive payments experience, preferably with chip card (5-7 years)
• Extensive experience with the U.S. Merchant and/or Acquirer/Processors landscape
• Experienced in managing multiple partner / vendor relationships simultaneously; must possess excellent client management skills.
• Has successfully led and implemented business critical projects of large scope, including a large number of work group members and large budget
• Strong PC competency (MS Office products, Visio, and Microsoft Project) required
• Well-developed presentation skills, including the ability to effectively deliver information to internal and external constituents at all levels
• This position will require the candidate to perform a wide variety of tasks; a wide degree of creativity is expected
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong aptitude for planning and organization, detail - oriented
• Candidate must be able to travel within the US and internationally
