Tooling Applications Engineer - Full-time / Part-time

Position Summary Provides engineering expertise in the areas of R&D, toolmaking, assembly, automation and manufacturing. The Tooling Applications Engineer must enhance the value proposition of Automation Engineer by initiating new technology development projects, and provide support on engineering projects. This is not intended to be a comprehensive listing of job tasks, but a high level description of essential job duties. *Identify new technology development opportunities via customer needs and market research, develop and implement new capabilities and processes that complement Automation Engineer's core capabilities. *Develop and leverage engineering relationships with customers to identify and facilitate future growth opportunity. *Provide engineering support during tooling debug, process development and qualification of production development projects. *Design, implementation and maintenance of laser technology. *Design and implements sensors and in-die automation for tooling and manufacturing applications. Qualifications/ Requirements Technical Skill Requirements Essential skills that define the position, specific practical, industry, professional skills - applied discipline or knowledge *The ideal candidate will have previous experience with tooling and machine design, 3D CAD, development and validation of stamping tools and vertically integrated processes. *Applies scientific method in troubleshooting of dies *Broad understanding of product and tooling materials. *Lean manufacturing, including statistical analysis. *Manufacturing process and design validation. *Broad understanding of laser technology, robotics, automation, electronics, and mechanical systems Performance Skill Requirements Essential transferable skills or competencies used to apply technical skills and accomplish position purpose *Strong comprehension and utilization of MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word *Must possess strong interpersonal, team and customer presentation skills. *Strong adherence to controlled systems and processes while maintaining creativity. *A demonstrated ability to effectively make decisions; set clear measurable and aggressive objectives for projects and programs; break complex problems into manageable tasks; and define end dates and meet deadlines is essential. Minimum Experience/Education/Certification Requirements *Bachelor's degree in engineering *7 yrs experience as an applications engineer or a tooling development engineer *Demonstrated experience and knowledge of advanced stamping methods and secondary processes, technology deployment, process development. *Experience working independently under pressure with multiple deadlines. *Demonstrated skill applying lean concepts and principles. *Ability to travel overnight, by land or air.
