OPS (TEMPORARY) FOOD SUPPORT WORKER

FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS' AFFAIRS

ALEXANDER (SANDY) NININGER VETERANS NURSING HOME, PEMBROKE PINES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Internal Agency - Only current FDVA employees will be considered.

One year of verifiable institutional cooking experience.

Willingness and ability to lift 50 pounds with or without accommodations.

Willingness to work rotating shifts, which includes mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays - with varying days off.

High school diploma or GED.

Basic computer skills.

This position is subject to mandatory Level II Background Screening when applicable.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Estimate food requirements.

Prepare and cook all types of hot and cold food items according to menu, recipe and production work sheets.

Place food on serving lines and keep replenished.

Utilize leftovers properly.

Assist in serving and garnishing pans and or plates. Insure tray accuracy and that foods are prepared to therapeutic specification.

Follow state and facility safety procedures in the operation of food production and cleaning of equipment.

Operate and maintain equipment used.

Maintain clean and sanitary conditions in all areas of the kitchen food preparation and serving lines.

Maintain proper temperatures controls on all food items and dish washing and pot washing procedures. Record temperatures.

Verify incoming shipments and receipts in absence of stock person.

Help maintain, check and control kitchen inventory.

Determine quantities available as well as amounts needed for operation.

Assist with purchase requests for food, paper products, cleaning products and utensils in kitchen.

Other related duties as required.
