Wealth Management Operations

Global Wealth Management Operations provides brokerage, investment and financial services to hundreds of thousands of individual investors. We apply our expertise in serving institutional clients to create new opportunities for people to achieve their personal financial goals. Morgan Stanley has one of the largest retail brokerage networks, with numerous worldwide representatives and retail locations. Our services are tailored to each client's investment objectives, risk tolerance, and financial needs. Products include mutual funds, stocks, bonds, and alternative investments where appropriate, as well as banking, mortgages, insurance and annuities.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced brokerage industry professional to build on their expertise and knowledge with a dynamic and challenging role in the Margin Department at Morgan Stanley. The businesses we support rely on our team to manage and highlight operational risk in the margin process. We are the last line of defense in a market or client crisis. You will form part of this defense. As you progress through the role, you will also have the opportunity to support your managers with carrying out supervisory functions and driving forward specific projects.

The Margin Department performs a key function by mitigating regulatory and financial risk for Morgan Stanley. The role of the Margin Analyst is to ensure our clients? accounts are following all the rules, regulations, and firm policies regarding cash and margin accounts as well as being involved in the collateral monitoring of the growing area of non-margin portfolio lending. The Margin Analyst works directly with branch management and the Financial Advisors of Morgan Stanley to resolve any issues that arise in an account. This will include: the monitoring of account balances and equity to ensure they meet firm and regulatory guidelines, issuing cash and margin calls when deficiencies are discovered, proactively contacting branches regarding any issues discovered by the margin department, and following through on any account issues to provide a timely resolution.

A good working knowledge of common trading strategies as well as the products being used by our customers is essential for the Margin Analyst role. In addition to standard brokerage products such as common stock, ETFs, Mutual Funds, and government/corporate bonds, familiarity with basic margin concepts and non-trade related account activity is also key for this role.

- Bachelors degree in business related field with 1-3 years industry experience.

- Knowledge of standard trading concepts as well as cash and margin principles such as Reg T, maintenance requirements, and buying power.

- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to professionally interact with operations colleagues as well as branch management and sales staff.

- Demonstration of a high attention to detail in prior work experience.

- Candidate should be a self-starter with the ability to work independently in addition to being a solid team player.
