Senior Buyer

The Senior Buyer will assist in creating and implementing an effective and efficient procurement function in order to build, shape and advance the company's strategic initiatives. Key constituents and audiences may include corporate and field employees, company leaders, as well as vendors.

Essential Functions:
  • Accountable for material and equipment acquisition and operations support assignments classified as moderate to high with regard to dollar and degree of difficulty.
  • Effectively negotiate pricing, terms and conditions, qualify suppliers, establish contracts, monitor performance, prepare and submit forecasts, establish supplier managed inventory programs, and ensure the facility has all materials necessary to operate efficiently.
  • Development and execution of high value procurement contracts and long term agreements for material and/or services that support internal requirements and help drive a reduction in acquisition lead time.
  • Maintain rapport and strengthen relationships with suppliers including development, execution and follow-up on requests for proposals, including evaluating proposals, cost analysis and supplier negotiations.
  • Analyze changes or new issues in materials and supply to reduce costs and improve quality.
  • Issue purchase orders within approved limits.
  • Manage vendors for on time delivery, expediting and updates.
  • Oversee the addition of new part numbers into the Wynne system, establish a streamlined and agreed upon process for field and corporate employees to follow.
  • Identify, evaluate, assess, qualify and select suppliers based on capabilities, performance and consistent quality assurance. Develop new supply sources when needed.
  • Manage the implementation and maintenance of the vendor qualification process.
  • Work to consolidate and reduce vendor count, as needed.
  • Conduct supplier inspections for compliance with purchase specifications.
  • Maintain constant communication with branches regarding status, delivery dates and potential risks of procured parts.
  • Work with branches to ensure Purchasing policies and procedures are adhered to appropriately.
  • Work with the Receiving Department and the branches in regards to any quality issues that arise.
  • Work with Accounts Payable to resolve any account issues with suppliers.
  • Ensure proper documentation is sent from the suppliers and that all purchasing activities adhere to established policies and procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities in support of Company business goals.
  • Reviews open PO's on a monthly basis, and provide shortages and updates during weekly production meetings.
  • Assist with related special projects, as required.

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferred.


Experience & Other
  • 3-5 years of procurement experience, required.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools, such as Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Word.
  • Experience working with an ERP system is preferred but not required.
  • Rental/industrial experience is helpful.
