Position Summary



We are seeking an IT Database Consultant for our Plymouth, MN location to be responsible for providing database administration for mission-critical, custom and packaged software applications. Install, configure and upgrade Oracle database system 9i, 10g, 11g software and related products on Unix based operating systems (SUN Solaris, IBM AIX, RHEL). Design and implement large OLTP and OLAP DSS databases on high availability Unix environment using Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) with ASM with 24*7 Failover and Oracle Data Guard. Implement best practice operations, performance and capacity planning, Backup and recovery polices, and disaster recovery setups using Oracle Data Guard. Act as business liaison serving as primary point of contact between application business segments and database administrators. Serve as a member of the team that proposes, writes, and reviews Standard Operating Procedures for various database platforms. Apply experience in Oracle 8i, Oracle9i, Oracle10g, Oracle11g, Oracle12c database systems and related tools including Oracle Streams, OEM Grid Control, ADDM, AWR, Data pump, HSODBC setups, DB clones, Oracle advanced replication and Unix shell scripting. Establish and maintain backup recovery policies and procedures for both production and non-production database systems using Oracle Recovery Manger (RMAN). Implement and maintain database security standards as defined by SOX procedures. Provide Oracle database performance monitoring and database optimization using OEM GRID. Perform database design, installation, configuration, maintenance, including upgrades/migrations, patch management, and other database administration activities on UNIX based platforms. Work with crisis and disaster management unit, participates in 24*7 on-call rotation, and works with different database vendors to resolve software bugs and issues. Uphold enterprise policy guidelines and recommend new and improved guidelines. Partner with project teams as well as interact with customers and business users to implement database solutions for application projects and provide operational support as required for existing and proposed database systems.



 

Requirements

Required Qualifications:


 



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Information Systems, Engineering or related field.

  • 5 years related, progressive, post-baccalaureate experience. Will accept experience gained concurrently.

  • Must have demonstrated experience with (1) Installing, configuring and upgrading Oracle database system 9i, 10g, 11g software and related products on Unix based operating systems (SUN Solaris, IBM AIX, RHEL); (2) designing and implementing large OLTP and OLAP DSS databases on high availability Unix environment using Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) with ASM with 24*7 Failover and Oracle Data Guard; (3) applying experience in Oracle 8i, Oracle9i, Oracle10g, Oracle11g, Oracle12c database systems and related tools including Oracle Streams, OEM Grid Control, ADDM, AWR, Data pump, HSODBC setups, DB clones, Oracle advanced replication and Unix shell scripting; and (4) implementing and maintaining database security standards as defined by SOX procedures.
