Position Description

The Application Engineer role provides 3rd level software support to Worldwide Sales and Support teams, requiring strong troubleshooting skills to research and resolve technical issues on a wide range of products, software and environments.

Application Engineers also participate / contribute to strategic initiatives; participate on product development teams and represent the Voice of Customer view to Engineering; consult with Customers, Engineering, Product Planning, Sales and Customer Support on product/system issues and enhancements and influence product design.

BS in Computer Science or related discipline with a minimum GPA of at least 3.0

Detailed knowledge of network technologies and protocols is preferred, including TCP/IP, Wireless and Mobile Print, Security, Authentication and emerging technologies in both print and scan environments.

Networking expertise should include thorough understanding of different controller platform networking feature / functionality, supporting network trace and topology assessment and evaluation, troubleshooting and resolving printer issues within complex customer environments, working with development to prioritize and document networking issues and vulnerabilities for final resolution.

Candidate should be self-motivated, able to prioritize and juggle multiple high priority tasks and have strong written and verbal communication skills.

Broad knowledge of various desktop and server Operating Systems required, including Windows Client/Server OS and Mac OS X.

Knowledge of set-up and maintaining a lab environment is a significant plus, creating / managing remote server environments, set up and support of product solutions and applications.

Experience in the printing / multi-function industry, security, networking environments preferred.
