Here is your chance to join a major Tier I manufacturer and supplier of metal stampings and welded assemblies with plants and facilities in multiple states. This organization specializes in modern metal forming technology, developing products and the processes to manufacture high quality parts. These include both components and assemblies, mainly for the automotive industry. The primary operations of the plant with a need for Tool & Die Makers are Die Stamping, Deep Draw, Automated Assembly, and Robotic Spot Welding. This is a team based organization where the abilities and skills of each individual are encouraged, promoted, and developed to their maximum potential.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Engineering Manager and Team Leader, is responsible for building, repairing, and trouble shooting tool and dies, supporting the press room during die sets, and collecting and analyzing data to improve part processing and quality.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Build tool and dies from part prints, sketches, reference parts, or instructions.
* Operate tool room machinery in a safe manner during the build process.
* Perform tool and die repairs on progressive dies, transfer dies, manually operated dies, and tooling.
* Diagnose and trouble shoot dies on the bench and in the press to make corrections.
* Work from T.C.O. program reports and last piece references to make corrections as required to produce quality parts.
* Support try out and make ready to run production after die steel or tool installations.
* Support press room operations by servicing die sets, trouble shoot dies and make corrections when possible with die in the press, and through using SPC data to determine dimensional integrity for die adjustments and document.
* Interface with both internal and external customers, participate on problem solving teams in production, and handling customer and supplier concerns.
* Support SPECS, TQM, MOS, and Safety programs. Also responsible for practicing good housekeeping standards.
* Authorized to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process, and quality system.
* Authorized to support and assist Tool & Die Apprentices in day to day operations.
* Assist Production with changing die in press includes power vehicle and die cart operation, install of t-bolts.
* Welding tools as required including TIG, MIG, and Stick welding application.
* Performs other essential functions as assigned.

Requirements

High School diploma or the equivalent, completion of a certified 4 year apprenticeship program in Die Making and/or Tool & Die Making, or eight years experience/or equivalent background in a Tool/Die shop building tools and dies.
