3M is seeking a Production Operator II for the Display Materials & Systems Division located in Methuen, MA. Ready to be part of what's next?

Job Summary :

The person hired for the position of Production Operator II will be fully qualified to perform production tasks such as printing, coating, post-coating, inspection, lamination, assembly (list not all-inclusive) according to organizational and quality standards. The Production Operator II must be able to rotate independently between multiple production lines and areas.

In addition, the Production Operator II would be the first line of defense in troubleshooting equipment problems, understanding how and when to escalate issues, as well as being able to monitor measure and report quality, output, and work order information. This position also has product flow responsibilities.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

- Read work orders, follow production drawings and respond to verbal and written instructions regarding machine preparation, start-up, and operation

- Execute the production schedule utilizing systems such as CyberScience and AGILE

- Maintain an understanding of the process and documentation in the work areas, and remain current in knowledge of process changes and updates for the areas

- Gathering and entering quality and production data into 3M databases and take appropriate actions or escalate as needed

- Understand and follow proper glass handling and gowning protocols

- Troubleshoot equipment problems to resolution, or escalate as necessary to ensure continuous flow of product

- Load and unload glass from washers and ovens, place glass on carts and move glass between operations utilizing transport carts

- Assist in monitoring work in process and keep the area leadership informed on the status of workflow and any quality issues

- Performs and verifies that machines are properly set-up with temperatures, timing and dimensions set to standard

- Load, position and align parts in fixture or other holding devices, and perform required operations

- Activate controls to operate equipment. Observe meters, gauges, etc.

- Examine in process and finished units; visually inspect for defects; repair and re-route work as required

- Learn, operate and train on complex automated equipment such as robot, scriber and printers (list not inclusive)

- Screen Room: responsible to build and process screens according to order and production specifications to be supplied to the manufacturing floor by using supplied equipment and materials. Cleans, prepares, and reclaims screens. Responsible for transport to and from screen room and manufacturing floor. Reconciles screen room online ordering system. Performs printing set ups for large format SCAP & Black Border printing PCAP

- Assist trainees as required

- Keep area and equipment neat and organized according to 5S standards for the area

- Participant in Kaizan and Lean teams as required

- Participate individually and as a member of the team to meet production, quality and cost goals, working cooperatively with others

- Understand and comply with OSHA and ISO 9001 standards and procedures

- Employee will handle and manage hazardous waste in compliance with Department of Environmental Protection and Environmental Protection Agency regulations, 310 CMR 30 and 40 CFR 262, respectively. Employee is required to attend initial and annual refresher hazardous waste management training as described in the site training program

- Apply safe work methods when performing the job requirements in hazardous and non-hazardous environments so as to avoid personal injury, injury to co-workers or damage to company property. Report unsafe work conditions or equipment operation to supervision immediately. Observe 3M Safety Rules, 3M Guide to Conduct, department work and safety rules

- Continuously (67%-100%) moves about between areas and tasks, standing/walking up to 8 hrs/day

- Frequently (34%-66%) lifts up to 10 lbs and occasionally (0%-33%) lifts 11-24 lbs

- Frequently pushes @ 46 lbs of force glass transport carts up to 35-50 lbs and occasionally pushes/pulls @ 46 lbs of force up to 51-74 lbs

- Bends up to 40 times per shift

- Operates around moving equipment

- Additional tasks as required

This position will require:

- Working overtime

- Working a fixed 3rd shift

This position may require:

- Weekend work

- Obtaining a PIV license

Basic Qualifications:

- Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher

- Minimum two (2) years of manufacturing experience

Preferred Qualifications:

- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

- Ability to communicate effectively

- Mathematical and computer skills involving data entry into databases

- Ability to read and understand Bill of Material, blueprints, manufacturing drawings/artwork, quality specs, and ability to use them

- Understand use of calipers, measuring devices, and other measuring tools etc.

- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with other members of the team
