Overview:

This position is responsible for the training and development of customer employees to include but not limited to, adherence to plan-o-grams, building of displays, resets and remodels, design, production and decoration of product. The incumbent in this position has excellent product knowledge and is viewed within Acosta and by the customer and client as the "expert" in procedures and setup of Fresh Foods and/or Bakery and/or Deli lines. The incumbent may work and travel independently and visit stores as assigned to ensure customer requirements are met. In this capacity, the incumbent is the Acosta professional who represents the company in ensuring questions are answered and acts as the lead in training customer associates to become equipped to handle the intricacies of the department.

Responsibilities:

Training and development of customer employees to ensure that a customer team is developed to handle the intricacies of the Fresh Foods and/or Bakery and/or Deli department.
  • Represents the company in professional capacity to ensure that available human resources are properly trained to handle the details of a Fresh Foods department on a day-to-day basis.
  • Travels and visits stores independently to ensure client/customer requirements are met. Retail travel needs to be scheduled in advance with an agenda outlined for the travel days. While traveling, each technician will check in frequently with an update. Formal pre and post communication with the store may be necessary to determine what resources will be needed. Objectives for each visit will be determined as well as a desired outcome.
  • New store openings/remodels:
    • May assist stores with setting cases to plan-o-grams.
    • May train associates to set cases to plan-o-grams.
    • May train associates on production.
    • May support production to meet store volume needs pre and post opening.
  • New items set ups, tracking and analysis. Maintenance of plan-o-grams as needed, seasonally and according to business needs. Maintenance of program manuals and supporting of merchandising tools for specific categories.
  • May develop Catman Reports to include:
    • Store Visits.
    • Monthly category reports that include analysis, seasonal recommendations, deletes, and trends.
    • Annual category review reports.
    • Other reports and analysis as needed.
  • May communicate weekly with merchandisers, store visit recaps to management and introduction of new programs and new items.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Manage a premium brand of deli products within a supermarket environment. Multi-store management responsibility. Management will include training employees, introducing new products, sanitation. Responsibility will be for a number of stores within an assigned geographic area. Limited travel may be required (approximately 3-4 nights per month).



Reporting to the General Manager, the Fresh Food Technician (“FFT”) will be responsible for the effective program roll-out and on-going execution of the store level merchandising and training program. Upon completion of the training classes the FFT will assist with setting each store within the marketing area with point-of-sale material, and, in conjunction with a roll-out team, will train store employees and set the stores to a defined deli case schematic. Each FFT will be responsible for approximately 25 stores in their respective geography. Ongoing duties will include scheduled visits to each store to train, set merchandising elements, and monitor case set compliance to schematic. Training manuals will be supplied, and the FFT will be responsible for maintaining a deli employee log which tracks certification by employee. FFT will be supplied with route lists, and store rankings which will indicate the high-volume/potential stores. As additional program elements, such as sandwich programs, and quarterly in-store marketing programs are added the FFT will be responsible for rolling out to each individual store to meet compliance to required specifications. FFT will submit a weekly sales resume highlighting accomplishments, and challenges to the GM. Each FFT will be required to have a dedicated cell phone, and computer access to the GM.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must have three years technical experience of core retail Fresh Foods and/or Bakery and/or Deli operations.
  • Supervisory or lead experience a plus.
  • Must know the details of Fresh Foods and/or Bakery and/or Deli operations.
  • Must possess Fresh Foods and/or Bakery and/or Deli production skills.
  • Must be able to individually and as part of team set up displays and participate in resets and remodels.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • This position requires that you drive on behalf of Acosta Sales & Marketing, and as such, any DUI/DWI conviction in the past 36 months will be an immediate disqualifier for this position.
