Roxbury Treatment Center is a private 112-bed sub-acute detoxification/rehabilitation and psychiatric center located at the foothills of the scenic Blue Mountains. In our 50-bed chemical dependency unit, detoxification is conducted under close medical supervision. The team of physicians and our around-the-clock nursing staff provide the needed assessment and care. The Recovery Program offers a professional approach to the treatment of chemical dependencies. Our treatment team includes Certified Addictions Counselors, Masters and Bachelors level clinicians, and nurses.

Our Military Initiative Program opened in June 2010 to treat active military personnel dealing with chemical dependency and mental health issues. The co-occurring program developed by our Treatment Team is a dynamic and multifaceted approach for this specialized treatment program.

Roxbury also has an acute psychiatric unit treating individuals with mental illnesses who need short-term hospitalization. This program specializes in treating adult patients who are suffering from co-occurring disorders mental illness and substance use/abuse issues. Staffed with mental health techs and nurses around the clock, our Chief Medical Officer and psychiatrists oversee this cutting edge psychiatric treatment program.

A new acute psychiatric unit treating adolescents between the ages of 13 - 17 recently opened at Roxbury. Roxbury is currently recruiting a Full Time Cook for day shift including every other weekend.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Cook prepares food and dessert items according to standard recipes. The cook is to have knowledge of the menu and products used in the dietary department. The cook serves meals to patients, staff and visitors in a courteous manner with consideration to dietary needs. The Cook maintains and cleans assigned areas including kitchen, dining rooms, storage and receiving areas in a clean, orderly and attractive condition providing a suitable environment for patients and staff in accordance with established policies and procedures and in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Roxbury Treatment Center. This person will maintain proper sanitation control products. The Cook assists in ordering of supplies and food products and completes weekly inventory of items.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. The employee may be required to perform job related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

Prefer food service experience preferably in a treatment center, health care or geriatric home setting.

Knowledge:

Knowledge of basic math, equipment usage, cleaning and cooking products, safety, and infection control practice. Knowledge and comprehension of regulatory agency standards (DOH, DPW, CMS, Joint Commission, etc.) ability to communicate orally, telephonically, and in writing working knowledge of computer systems and various software must maintain certification in CPR, Verbal De-escalation, and Handle With Care. Must possess good interpersonal skills and the ability to be a team player. Good documentation, organization and time management skills are necessary. Must be effective in decision-making and problem solving.

Licensure/Certification: Valid PA Driver's License, Safe Serve Certification preferred.

Environmental Conditions:

Works in food production kitchen setting subject to extreme changes in temperature. General hospital environment. Exposure to patients who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids and other hazardous waste. Exposure to equipment, cleaning products and fluid.

Physical Requirements:

Push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping. Drug and alcohol free as evidenced by negative results of post-offer, pre-employment urine drug screen.
