DESCRIPTION

This is work supervising and coordinating the activities of correctional officers or correctional officer inspectors.

EXAMPLES OF WORK

Prepares work schedules, assigns duties, and develops and revises operating procedures.

Supervises and coordinates employees in support of corrections activities.

Monitors and evaluates job performance of subordinates.

Disciplines staff for violation of department rules and regulations.

Assists subordinates in performing job duties.

Investigates and resolves personnel problems within organization.

Investigates charges of misconduct against staff.

Prepares reports and directs preparation, handling, and maintenance of departmental records.

Trains employees in methods for performing an effective and efficient job.

Plans and implements administrative and criminal investigative methods, procedures and techniques.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

This occupation requires certification in accordance with Chapter 943, Florida Statutes, and completion of the basic recruit training course for Correctional Officers and incumbents must be eligible for, or possess a current employment certificate of compliance issued by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.
