Overview:
Under immediate supervision, troubleshoots and repairs electronics equipment, as assigned, to component level with training.Uses test equipment, performs soldering and observes electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions.Can read schematics and identify electrical components.Maintains inventory of assigned parts and enters accurate repair records in a database.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Troubleshoot using schematics, hand tools and test equipment to isolate equipment faults to cause. Component replacement, circuit repair or reconfiguration as needed to effect equipment repair.
  • Testing of repaired equipment to verify meets operational standards.
  • Log repairs in database including parts used and symptom and repair codes. Files all work records in an organized and timely manner.
  • Perform training and technical assistance for less experienced technicians.
  • Able to work well in a team environment and assists in building strong team relations.
  • Follows established routines and specific instructions. Recognizes deviation from routines and asks for directions.
  • Performs repairs within allotted repair time of respective equipment.
  • Maintains quality rejects within NRC standards.
  • Follows repair guidelines.
  • Reads schematics and recognizes symbols.
  • Performs soldering of through-hole and SMT devices like SOIC and chip-type discrete components, PLCC, QFP and BGA without damage to components or equipment.
  • Knowledgeable with NRC test equipment like multimeter, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, RF power meter, frequency counter and test fixtures for assigned equipment.
  • Uses hand tools.
  • Performs printed circuit board repair.
  • Maintains accurate bench parts inventory.
  • Meets electrostatic discharge (ESD) requirements.
  • Produces technical documentation for NRC.
  • Provides technical telephone support for IFS associates on products technician is qualified on.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Knows and follows safe work practices, policies and procedures.
  • Performs collateral duties as assigned.
  • May be required to work hours beyond normal schedule to satisfy business needs.
  • Perform increasingly difficult component-level repairs.




Skills Summary:
  • Resourceful in troubleshooting may be required.
  • Troubleshooting without schematics may be required.
  • After the technician demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot independently and perform repairs within allotted time, will be given increasingly more difficult types or repairs
  • Associate's degree preferred and 0-1 year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year experience in component-level electronics repair.
  • One year soldering experience.
  • Beginner in Word, Excel, and Lotus Notes.
  • Intermediate in Internet Explorer.
  • Functional usage of NRC repair database.
