Time Warner Cable News currently seeks a Art Director/Graphic Designer for its News & Local Programming Networks. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.


Summary of Role:

The Art Director will be responsible formulating design concepts and presentation approaches for visual communications media such as broadcasting and advertising. Will be responsible for directing a staff in art work or layout design.

Essential Job Functions:

Formulate basic layout design or presentation approach and specify material details, such as style and size of type, photographs, graphics, animation, video, and sound.

Manage own projects, working within budget and scheduling requirements.

Confer with creative, art, copywriting, or production department heads to discuss requirements and presentation concepts and to coordinate creative activities.

Work with creative director and producers to develop design solutions.

Review illustrative material to determine if it conforms to standards and specifications.

Attend photo & video shoots and printing sessions to ensure that the products needed are obtained.


Position Requirements:
Knowledge & Experience (Technical Responsibilities)

-

In-depth knowledge of commercial post-production technologies (Flame, Photoshop, 3D programs, After Effects, Final Cut & Premiere).
-

Knowledge of adapting elements to Chyron Duet (Lyric software) and live network ticker platforms.
-

Demonstrates progressive, forward thinking design with a strong background in how to design for multiple screens sizes and the mobile use case.
-

Strong understanding of on-air look-and-feel to give creative direction.
Prepare illustrations or rough sketches of material, discussing them with supervisors and making necessary changes.

Maintain archive of images, photos, or previous work products.

Prepare notes and instructions for workers who assemble and prepare final layouts for broadcast.

Formal Education & Certification

-

Bachelor ' s degree in graphic design or equivalent work experience is preferred
-

4+ years television sports/news producing experience preferred.
Travel Requirements:

Travel depending upon project need. Must have valid passport.
