Directs and coordinates operations for efficient warehouse storage which includes; loading, packaging, and shipping orders for stores and customers as well as monitoring and resolving inventory discrepancies and handling damaged or defective merchandise for return to vendors.

POSITION PURPOSE:
Direct all operations activities in a distribution center environment of approximately $15M or less in revenue. Responsible for operational excellence and process improvement; ensuring customer expectations are exceeded; and talent acquisition, development, and retention. Operates as a strategic partner with logistics and supply chain management in establishing and adhering to operating budgets.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES - Ensure efficient distribution operations and adherence to policy, procedure and process excellence. Ensure environmental health and safety excellence through compliance with all safety and Hazmat rules and regulations, legal regulations, and human resource policies.
  • Responsible for talent management including selection, termination, performance review and professional development of direct reports.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet service, financial and operational support demands.
  • Manage carrier services and dedicated delivery processes. Partner with support staff to ensure compliance with all DOT regulations.
  • Effectively utilize training programs to develop sales and operations expertise within the facility.
    • Act as liaison to functional leadership to ensure customer satisfaction and problem resolution. Coordinate and communicate effectively with all company departments.
    • Provide input to annual operating budgets in support of the corporate financial goals and responsible for P&Lmanagement. Complete cost justification and determine ROI.
  • Achieves cost control through productivity of personnel, efficient utilization of facility space and proper protection of stored materials. Ensure accurate inventory levels and prevent shrinkage.
NATURE AND SCOPE - Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others. In addition to personnel issues -- including selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development of subordinates.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Typically in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noise, and fumes which cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness. 2. Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -
  • 18 years or older
  • Must pass the Drug Test
  • Must pass the Background Check
  • Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
EDUCATION REQUIRED -
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's degree.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 7

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - Most all of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS -
Thorough knowledge of OSHA requirements and HazMat rules; ability to build a team within a department; ability to execute plans.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree.
  • Previous experience in fleet management.
  • Exposure to Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish).
  • Experience in distribution/logistics management. Previous supervisory/team lead experience.

Knowledge of the logistics industry in a distribution environment.
Business planning, analytical, financial, and conceptual skills.
Knowledge of budget preparation and compliance with operating expense budgets. Leader with ability to supervise, coach, develop, and promote a team employees toward the completion of strategic or department goals.
Ability to identify and develop talent.
Good oral and written communciation skills; good interpersonal skills.
PC skills; Microsoft office skills, including Word, Excel, Oracle Data Browser, and Home Depot Supply/HD proprietary operating systems.
Ability to successfully multi-task and complete assignments on time.
Ability to accept and operate in a changing environment.
Possess a high level of organizational and time management skills; ability to flex work schedules to meet business needs.
Ability to develop and implement short and long range strategies that support the objectives of the company.
