About this job
Assists with patient care appropriate to geriatric patients. Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient's needs; possesses knowledge of growth and development; and has an understanding of the range of treatment needed for this patient group. Performs lab procedures within the scope of his/her training and certification. Knowledgeable in receptionist, clerical, and performs any other duties as directed.
Key Accountabilities / Competencies
1. Accurately and completely takes vital signs and initial history.
2. Assists in stocking rooms and maintaining inventory of supplies in patient care and laboratory areas. Recognizes when equipment is not in proper working order and is able to correct situation utilizing resources. Prepares patient rooms after discharge, cleaning equipment and emptying trash and linen as needed.
3. Assists the physician with procedures and examinations.
4. Completes all assigned tasks and duties accurately and timely.
5. Demonstrates an understanding of, and adherence to the Code of Conduct.
6. Demonstrates knowledge of the occurence reporting system and uses the system to report potential safety issues.
7. Assist with special project assignments.
8. Maintains positive working relationships and fosters a cooperative work environment. Adheres to St. Mark's Hospital Ethics Policy.
9. Participates in meetings, committees and continuing education to improve individual, departmental and organizational performance {PI}. Attendance for Departmental/Unit Meeting Average}= 80 percent.
10. Provides age and culturally appropriate care with specific attention to supplies and equipment.
11. Serves as a mentor or educational resource for new employees and students.
12. Works effectively with students as appropriate.
Certificate of completion from approved Medical Assistant Program.
Current BLS (CPR) provider.
Completion of course work in approved medical assistant program
1 yr outpatient clinic exp preferred
Good customer service skills.
