Job Description

Areas of Responsibility

Responsible for plant maintenance within the guidelines of the Operating Agreements. Participates in the employee selection process and is responsible for implementation of the computerized maintenance management system. Develops and updates plant maintenance procedures and system descriptions. Establishes and maintains preventive and predictive maintenance support system, equipment and tools, warehouse and inventory control, spare parts, site procurement and material receiving. Plans, coordinates, and executes all outages. Administers plant maintenance budget and identifies areas of optimization and makes recommendations for improvement.

1. Manages all preventative, predictive and emergency maintenance at facility within safe, legal and contractually permissible limits. Meets or exceeds daily production budget.

2. Using established employee selection guidelines, assists in hiring of plant personnel.

3. Provides performance related feedback and formal evaluations for plant technicians.

4. Responsible for promoting spirit of teamwork and productivity among operating personnel in accordance with Siemens system.

5. Develops, refines and administers maintenance qualification and training programs.

6. Develops, refines, and administers plant maintenance procedures.

7. Coordinate and supervise all functions necessary to ensure the efficient and reliable maintenance of the plant for optimized production levels.

8. Requires a high degree of ingenuity to support the optimization of plant equipment through the scheduling and performance of corrective/preventative maintenance and the utilization of new products and methods.

9. Implement and utilize computerized maintenance management program at the plant.

10. Establish and implement the routine maintenance program and preventative maintenance procedures. Schedule preventative and corrective maintenance.

11. Ensure that an adequate inventory of materials and supplies are available to support routine maintenance programs. Review status of spare parts and requisition as needed. Maintain spare parts history and implement and maintain inventory control.

12. Establish and implement tool control and inventory program to support routine maintenance.

13. Maintain high level of interaction with maintenance personnel. Evaluate personnel in maintenance group. Assist in plant training program.

14. Coordinate outages in conjunction with Plant Manager and Division outage planning function.

15. Take responsibility for plant housekeeping.

16. Provide back up for Plant Operations Supervisor during absence.

17. Coordinate maintenance subcontracting as required.

18. Implement and monitor CEM and other environmental requirements and provide technical support for the equipment.

19. Prepare plant performance and environmental reports, maintenance activity reports, production forecast, etc. as necessary to satisfy owner/governmental/utility requirements.

20. Provide technical support to instrument/electrical/mechanical/operations personnel in troubleshooting problems.

21. Coordinate and document work performed by plant personnel and outside contractors as required.

22. Direct and/or conduct maintenance, operations or safety training as directed.

23. Assist the site safety designee and/or environmental designee in their administration and/or development of the safety/environmental programs including training of employees.

Required Competencies

1. Requires a thorough understanding of all aspects of power plant maintenance, and a good working knowledge of turbines, generators, boilers, and instrumentation and controls.

2. Requires strong verbal and written communications skills, and interpersonal skills necessary to supervise nonexempt personnel.

3. Requires a strong ability to present, explain and defend rationale behind actions taken during the course of buisness in a concise and logical manner, because of the highly regulated and complex nature of the business, before division management and government personnel.
