We have a full-time/part-time opening for a Quality Engineer.

Must be able to work various shifts per week.

Requirements

Experis is partnered with a world leading automotive manufacturer who has an immediate need for experienced Quality Engineer at their Tuscaloosa, AL, manufacturing facility. The QE will be responsible for investigating, analyzing and correcting problems of supplier parts through collaborative partnerships within the company and with suppliers to ensure the incoming quality and functionality of these parts.

German fluency is a must. The QE will also be a liaison between the Tuscaloosa plant and parts suppliers in Germany and will travel to Germany on occasion to meet with suppliers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Align with Supplier Quality Engineering on boundary samples
* Review trial parts and provide line support
* Report part readiness for launch to SQE team
* Facilitate corrective action and root cause analysis using problem solving and continuous improvement techniques.
* Support production floor on supplier related issues, process improvements, and cross-functional activities to achieve the quality, safety and production goals
* Initiate and approve sorting activities utilizing 3rd party to include in-house, yard areas and sequencing center
* Initiate containment activities in-house and feedback to Supplier
* Initiate supplier notification and initial problem-solving documentation

REQUIREMENTS :

* Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related area or the equivalent combination of education and experience
* 2- 5 years related experience within an automotive manufacturing environment required. Direct automotive OEM or tier 1 or tier 2 experience only.
* Must have strong German Language Skills
* Must have hands on experience with interior/exterior part quality commodities or Chassis is a plus. Automotive interior commodities include: door trim, panels, seat components,interior trim, electronics. Exterior commodities include: bumper parts, external lighting, and large external moldings.
* Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)
* Capable of using hand measurement tools (i.e. calipers, micro-meters, etc.).
* Understands GD&T and SPC analysis
* Understands and can enforce the basic requirements of a quality system within an automotive manufacturing environment; i.e., APQP steps, control plan validation.
* Working knowledge of specific manufacturing processes i.e. injection molding, metal stamping, plastic painting, assembly processes, rubber extrusion, fabric-wrapping processes, glass manufacturing or mechanical assemblies as is relevant to commodity assignment.
* Strong problem solving skills required using established methodologies including 8-D, 5-WHY, DOE, Red X, etc.
