Staffmark currently has an opening for a talented individual to fill the role of Staff Accountant in Long Island City, NY. This opportunity is for a six month temporary project on a part time basis (25 -- 30 hours per week) with a healthcare facility.
As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for:
• Monitor, analyze, and report on expenditures, variances, and trends of the division's major contracts and interagency agreements.
• Prepare and administer department budgets, fiscal requests, and staffing proposals.
• Develop cost and funding analyses and prepare monthly as well as ad-hoc fiscal reports.
• Utilize fiscal analyses and cost effectiveness techniques to make recommendations to senior staff.
• Monitor expenditures, identifying and analyzing variances between planned and actual expenditures.
• Handle fiscal administration of division's contracts including budget forecasting and payment authorization.
• Conduct organizational research activities to ensure maximum efficiency of employees and other resources, including field work.
• Monitor spending of grants, maintain records, and provide documentation for grant audits.
• Liaise with program staff, OBA, Revenue, and Grant offices.
• Review contract proposals and performance reports to ensure compliance with the agency's requirements, and federal/state/city guidelines.
• Evaluate prospective contractors' budgetary proposals and financial reports. Provide technical expertise to contractors and subordinates whenever required.
• Prepare charts, graphs, and special projects as needed.

The ideal Staff Accountant candidate will be deadline- and detail-oriented and able to multi-task. Staff Accountant Candidates must also have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel with the following:

Applying functions

Manipulation of PivotTables

Presenting results in an organized manner

Navigating across worksheets and workbooks

Displaying multiple worksheets or workbooks simultaneously

Inserting, deleting, moving, and copying sheets

Creating linkage formulas among workbooks

Locating and managing links


Staff Accountant Candidates should have a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and at least one year of related experience.
