Position Overveiw
The Service Reconditioning Manager is responsible for work allocation, supervision and training of a team of Technicians and Porters to ensure efficient and productive team performance and a compliant reconditioning process.
Who Would I Interact With?
This position interacts daily with the Service Director, Supervises Service Technicians and Porters. Interacts with GSM, Sales Managers, General Manager, Used Car Manager and customers.
What are the day-to-day responsibilities?
- Perform work at a level that achieves Service Customer Satisfaction Index rating at or above that of the manufacturer, region or dealership average
- Responsible for all internal repair orders written for reconditioning service to used vehicles
- Facilitate the recruiting, selection, on boarding and training of Service Technicians and Porters
- Assist with performance management, including coaching and counseling, to develop and retain a qualified workforce
- Plans and schedules work assignments, and conducts team meetings to assess prior day performance
- Maintain a schedule of Service Technician and Porter absences for training, vacation or personal reasons to assure a proper staffing to meet work demands
- Maintain a safe and efficient shop area that is free of hazards
- Monitors production and cycle time of used vehicles through the reconditioning process to meet store targets
- With the assistance of the Service Director, chart the performance of each Service Technician to assure flag hour objectives are met
- Coordinate ongoing training for the Service Technicians and maintain a log of the completed training and certifications received
- Performs quality assurance check before vehicle is given to the Sales department
- Creates and finalizes all internal repair orders for the used car reconditioning process
What are the requirements for this job?
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Excellent demonstrated verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Must have valid in-state driver’s license and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record
- Ability to drive manual transmission vehicle
- Demonstrated customer service skills
- Two or more years of supervisory experience preferred
