This position offers an exciting opportunity in Enterprise Sourcing & Procurement (ES&P) group for an experienced contracting professional.


 


The Senior Sourcing & Procurement Consultant will provide complex commercial contract drafting, redlining and contract negotiation services for the Enterprise Sourcing & Procurement. We are looking for a proven professional who can successfully deliver on initiatives that will often have broad and meaningful impact on the business.


 


In general, you will be required to draft, redline and negotiate contract terms and conditions, including master agreements (multiple types), statements of work and contract amendments. In doing so, you will specifically be required to:


 


Primary Responsibilities:




  • Gather and coordinate information from business stakeholders and vendors as needed for each contract type

  • Develop negotiation strategies for hardware purchases, telecom purchases and software licensing terms

  • Lead negotiations, executing contract terms and conditions using standard templates and playbooks, drafting where appropriate, and negotiating pricing in alignment with business strategy

  • Ensure supplier compliance with contract terms and conditions and pricing

  • Negotiate rates, value adds, service level agreements (SLA's) and contract terms

  • Develop impactful SLA's or key performance indicators (KPI's) for a supplier's services

  • Partner with ES&P, Legal, Information Risk Management, Finance and UnitedHealth Group's business units to minimize and mitigate risk to the business

  • Articulate, defend and present contracting strategies and approaches (of both parties) with business stakeholders and management as necessary to gain support and buy-in on negotiation strategies and efforts

  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge and working understanding of commercial contracting methods

  • Develop solutions to complex contracting issues, which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation, ensuring solutions are consistent with organization objectives and in-line with corporate contracting guidelines

Requirements

Required Qualifications:




  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

  • 4+ years of broad transaction background in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements with Information Technology suppliers; must be able to create and negotiate contracts using proposals, business requirements and other relevant data

  • Extensive contract drafting and terminology knowledge that includes solid understanding of subtleties of contact language, risk based language, contracting traps and pitfalls to avoid, document management and control, and legal acuity

  • Demonstrated track record of positive impact in all positions held

  • Ability to negotiate and communicate complex concepts/business issues verbally and in writing to customers, management and suppliers

  • Ability to respond effectively and quickly to customers' needs and issues

  • Proven ability to develop business relationships

  • Ability to work effectively independently and within a team environment

  • Proven hands-on track record of managing multiple, often competing, priorities, tasks and objectives

  • Highly professional with superior verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with all levels of an organization and diverse audiences

Preferred Qualifications:



  • JD degree

  • Experience in the healthcare industry or other highly regulated industry

  • Experience contracting for Information Technology good and services

  • Understanding of Information Technology security, HITRUST, HIPAA and healthcare regulatory requirements
