Windows Managed Services Manager

What You Will Do:

Reporting to the NaviSite Vice President of Customer Operations, the Windows Managed Services Manager is responsible for managing and running the team supporting day-to-day Windows environments – both physical and virtual, and including backup, patching and antivirus components for NaviSites managed services customers located in our Andover, MA data center.

Work with colleagues in (the Operations Center, Networking, Applications, Cloud Engineering, Database, Customer Service Managers, Engineering, etc.) and customer’s to ensure optimal performance of production systems for hundreds of customers on a 7X24 basis using technical expertise, strong leadership and communication skills, and best practice operational processes.

Responsibilities:

The Windows Managed Services Manager will be in charge of leading an Operations team managing multiple Windows’ based server environments. Some key responsibilities include.
Team management and development – Work with a core team of related technology engineers to distribute work, cover responsibilities, address issues as efficiently as possible while also building strong relationships within the team and be able to coach and mentor the team as part of their personal development. This is a highly dynamic environment and candidate must be able to multi-task.Customer communications – Candidate needs to be a strong customer facing lead that can develop productive relationships with customer contacts and effectively build their confidence in our solution and service.Executive updates – Candidate will be expected to be able to provide succinct and complete summarized status updates on plans and status to executive management.Troubleshooting – Strong experience and skills in troubleshooting and preventing complex customer outages across multiple technologies to minimize downtime.Proactive management – Proactively establish processes across the team to proactively manage hundreds of customer environments, with limited resources by looking at trends and quickly addressing root causes to prevent recurring impacts.Engineering and continuous improvements – Possess strong curiosity and experience to continually look to see how we can grow and improve what we do. Will work closely with our Engineering team to establish best practices and roll out new services.Collaboration / Teamwork – Able to thrive as a strong and productive member of the overall customer support team and work closely with colleagues on other teams. This is a team focused environment relying on developing and maintaining strong relationships across teams.Vendor Management – Able to effectively manage multiple strategic vendor relationships and service contractsRequired Experience:
7 to 10 years operational experience with managing complex Windows-based production operating systems.

Customer Support – proven customer management skills supporting production environments for customers and earning their respectTechnical expertise with managing and administrating Microsoft platform. Hands on experience with Windows 2003, 2008 and 2012 versions.Proven expertise in managing backups, patching and antivirus solutions.Cloud and Virtualization experience – particularly with VMWare products.Prior experience managing a team of system engineers is preferredOverall Operations Leadership in supporting production systems 7X24 and continuously improving the related support processes. Familiarity with ITIL methodology is desirable.Compliance expertise – particularly with SSAE-16.
