Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY: This position will provide direct support to Global Engineering, Global Logistics, and Global Supply Chain by establishing our LEAN vision and strategy. This will be accomplished by ongoing deployment and sustainment of LEAN principles and systems within the company, deploying organization design to foster continuous improvement and human development and enabling effective communication about LEAN. This role is the subject matter expert in LEAN principles, values, philosophies and tools. Leading cross functional teams toward a common vision and facilitating change management on a large scale, this position requires effectively mentoring at all levels of the organization. Project management responsibilities are critical to keep the program on track and ultimately deliver LEAN culture throughout the enterprise.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Setting LEAN vision and strategy:
  • Architect, sponsor, and communicate the strategy and structure for LEAN.
  • Lead the LEAN transformation communication efforts within functional leadership teams.
  • Advise leaders on metrics to gauge LEAN six sigma maturity within the organization.
  • Ensure alignment and synchronization of LEAN mission/vision/purpose that support business plans.


Fostering Continuous Improvement and human development:
  • Encourage risk taking and experimentation using the scientific method within the organization
  • Establish processes, systems and enablers to create a learning organization
  • Establish and drive programs and processes for people development
  • Subject Matter Expert on Lean Process Improvement Initiatives
  • Provide leadership to guide teams, business leaders and associates through the lean deployment, including education, providing inspiration and coaching and facilitating change
  • Facilitate successful project completion, based on schedule, and make results visible through regular reporting.


LEAN implementation:

· Demonstrate knowledge of business and client needs and ensure alignment and integration to lean deployment, tools and systems

· Project Management of Lean Initiatives

· Develop creative approaches to implementation, particularly the ability to manage launch and learn methodologies

· Produce efficiency projections and reporting for recommendation and execution stages of Lean projects

· Identify and refine opportunities for efficiency and process improvements in specific projects

· Implement Solutions by collaborating with business partners

Communication and sustainability:

· Effectively communicate the LEAN vision and strategy to all levels of the organization

· Partner with leadership to ensure a level of understanding

· Build a sense of urgency throughout the organization around the need for LEAN

· Foster respect for people and humility as they mentor and coach others on the LEAN journey

· Be the SME, teacher, mentor, and coach for the program

· Identify and remove roadblocks for project teams

· Model desired behaviors and lead by example

· Establish people development-education, motivation, empowerment and involvement.

· Remain up to date on latest trends in LEAN through benchmarking and participation in consortiums

Qualification

1) Knowledge, skills & abilities:

· Management consulting experience

· Experience in a heavily matrixed organization

· Demonstrated track record of improvement projects

· Superior interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with all levels of leadership

· Ability to motivate change at the process owner level of the organization

· Excellent facilitation and presentation skills

· Passionate and results driven leader

· Solid team and project leadership abilities

· Coaching, training, and mentoring of cohorts of all levels including senior leaders

· Strong ability to structure complex problems, define and conduct critical analysis, extract key insights and drive future state designs and adaptive implementation models

· Demonstrated Value Stream Mapping experience

2) Minimum educational level:

· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Operations Management, or equivalent.

· Masters degree in related field or business preferred.

· Certification within industry (ASQ, SME, Shingo Prize, Etc.)

3) Minimum experience:
  • 7 years experience in logistics and distribution
