This is a new hybrid job role representing an approximate split of 60% CNC machine programming and 40% CNC machine operations. The AMI machine shop is a single shift, low-volume, small-to-medium part size operation, possessing three CNC machines. This person will report to the Machine Shop Manager.
Responsibilities / Duties:
Work independently to develop machining programs that enable job order execution to three CNC machines. Will access and interpret Engineering CAD files, blueprints and specifications in the course of developing accurate and highly efficiency machine programs using Esprit and SmartCam software. Will frequently set-up and/or operate Haas CNC machines. Will measure, mark and scribe dimensions and reference points to lay-out stock for machining. Fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment; and determines material, parts and equipment required. May also be asked to set-up and operate a variety of machine tools such as lathes and manual mills. May monitor and verify in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Finally, must establish and maintain successful relations with Design Engineers and CNC Operators.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED
Vocational education a plus
Minimum 4-years programming experience using Esprit, or an equivalent software
Minimum 4 years manual and/or CNC machine programming and machining experience; including setting-up machine tools, lathes and milling machines
Minimum 4 years reading/interpreting blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications
Minimum 4 years making standard machine shop computations relating to tooling, feeds and speeds
Completion of a formal apprenticeship is a plus
Must have good people skills -- communication and engagement
Must have ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
Must be able to work overtime
Lean manufacturing knowledge is a plus
