Centers for Family Medicine is a community-based practice of more than 20 Family Physicians, each trained with unique attitudes, skills and knowledge to provide superior medical care to the patient, as well as the patient's entire family. From pediatric and adolescent care, to adult and senior health care, patients are provided with access to comprehensive and professional medical assistance through a network of local offices, urgent care centers, hospitals and 24 hr. on-call physician consultations.

 

Delivering quality care starts with ensuring our processes and documentation standards are being met and kept at the highest level possible. This means working behind the scenes ensuring a member-centric approach to care. In this role, you'll provide coding and coding auditing services directly to providers. This includes the analysis and translation of medical and clinical diagnoses, procedures, injuries, or illnesses into designated numerical codes.

Primary Responsibilities: 


  • Review and analyze patient records according to current compliance policies and providers documents are compliant
  • Coder will be responsible for CPT and ICD-9 coding and ensuring accuracy and maximization reimbursement
  • Coder will perform compliance audits and support CMS-HCC risk adjustment projects
  • Conduct ongoing quality and compliance reviews of coding for Optum Medical Partners
  • Documents results of all coding audits and suggestions for coding and documentation improvement
  • Creates positive relationships with all medical group providers and practice managers
  • Ensure all departmental coding policies, procedures and guidelines are current and followed
  • Comply with all applicable Federal, State, Local and Accrediting Agency regulations
  • Manage the resolution of all billing rejections due to coding issues for assigned practices
  • Educate and Train providers on how to utilize available tools to improve their knowledge and coding skills while staying within the guideline
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of the current changes of coding practices by continuing education and reading resource material
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned

Requirements


Required Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma or GED
  • CPC, CCS-P, or CCS coding certification (any of these)
  • 2+ years coding experience
  • 2+ years HCC coding experience
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point  

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Risk adjustment experience or health plan experience
  • Managed care experience
  • Ambulatory coding, outpatient clinic experience
