Machine Operator - Full-time / Part-time

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The responsibilities of operators in this position are to operate equipment to process and roll Nitinol sheets to customer specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. (Other duties may be assigned.)

• Receives work orders, travelers and material for material processing
• Sets up and operates roll mills, shears, annealing furnaces, grinders, and various hand tools
• Visually inspects material for defects while rolling and corrects for straightness, flatness, and finish
• Must be able to use micrometers, calipers and rulers to measure the dimensions of the product being worked on
• Conditions, lubricates, and polishes rolls in mills as required
• Maintains and records data on travelers as required
• Maintains work area in a clean, orderly, and safe condition including organization of tools and supplies.
• Maintain work area to 6s posted standards
• May be assigned to work with chemicals and hazardous wastes. Training will be provided on appropriate chemical handling and hazardous waste management practices.
• May be asked to perform preventive maintenance on equipment. Training will be provided.

• EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE - HS Diploma or GED

• LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be able to communicate in English.

• MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - As essential to basic job needs and requirements. Must know addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and must be able to work with decimals.

• PHYSICAL DEMANDS - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand while operating machines, use hands and may occasionally lift up to 50 lbs

Training: An individual in this position will be trained to the following outline. The training will be imparted at the discretion of supervisors and managers.

• Computer Training - MS Excel, Word, Visio, Master Control.
• Basic EH&S Training and Chemical Handling.
• Job specific training on rolling, heat-treating, cutting, grinding, and measuring.
• Training to Company Policies and Procedures and the JM-San Jose Quality System
• ISO 9000:2000 Quality Standards as they apply to production.
• Lean Manufacturing
