The Pharmacist Consultant Sr. will be responsible for supporting services for mainstream Medicaid members with behavioral health needs, as well as members with more serious behavioral health issues in the Health and Recovery Plan (HARP).

We are seeking a Pharmacist (current RPh with 4 years of clinical and/or managed care experience).

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

Provides evaluation of complex member Rx needs and therapies through review of medication history to determine if medications are appropriate. Assesses member adherence with plan through direct contact with members and their physicians. Determines potential barriers to adherence and identifies solutions to overcome barriers. Ensures that members understand appropriate use of current prescriptions. Reviews medications with physicians when therapies do not meet national standards and counsels physicians around alternative medications. Serves as a resource to the clinical team on pharmacy issues that impact members with behavioral health conditions, including the treatment of co-morbid medical conditions. Incorporates pharmacy information as part of managed care benefits. Researches new resources and provides education to team members. Consults with multidisciplinary team regarding complex cases. Assists in developing data-driven approaches to assessment of population based pharmacologic treatment and provider prescribing practices, and in designing approaches to provider education. Serves as departmental liaison to other areas or as representative on enterprise initiatives. Serves as a resource to lower level associates and provides process and/or system guidance.

Qualifications

Requires an RPh; 4 years of clinical and/or managed care experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Current RPh license required. Psychiatric certification preferred PharmD preferred. May require response during non-standard hours. Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal); interpersonal and leadership skills. Experience working with people with serious mental illness/substance abuse disorders and medical conditions preferred Must reside in New York and be willing and able to work onsite approximately two times week in the New York City office location (Pine St.)
