WebSphere Middleware Engineer (ID 121109)

This is a Sr. Associate position on the Middleware Engineering Team. The team researches, boards and evolves the most cost-effective software products and enterprise building blocks that improve the efficiency, availability and performance of application servers, middleware gateways and related platforms. The team owns and provides governance along with 24x7x365 3rd level support for the following technologies: WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat, Apache, WMQ, DB2Connect, CICS Transaction Gateway, DataPower and Google Search Appliance. Team works closely with Enterprise Architecture, AD and peer infrastructure teams to identify and fill middleware technology or process gaps.

Qualifications

Skills Required:
- This is a WebSphere Engineering position, not application programming.
- WebSphere Engineering, maintenance, performance tuning and problem determination in Discovers WebSphere environments.
- Perform strategic planning, upgrades, maintenance and support of WebSphere and its environments.
- Support applications in their development in WebSphere.
- Provide support of Discovers WebSphere Production Environments.
- Maintain, troubleshoot and evolve wsadmin code library including debugging existing functionality, adding new functions, new modules, and writing utility and wrapper scripts to support business objectives.
- Requires extensive knowledge of Python functions, libraries, packages, modules and exception handling.
- Requires extensive knowledge of wsadmin objects, types, methods and parameters.
- Familiarity with clearcase desired.
- Provide 2nd and 3rd level support of all Middleware software including Datapower, WebSphere Application Server, Apache, Tomcat, JBoss and MQ.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical environments.
- Work with vendors to bring timely solutions and implement fixes.
- Complete life cycle management of all Middleware software including installation, configuration, tuning, patching, upgrading and migrating.
- Experience with CTG (CICS Transaction Gateway) for multiplatforms.

- Team works closely with Enterprise Architecture, AD and peer infrastructure teams to identify and fill middleware technology or process gaps.-
- Significant experience with J2EE design patterns and application architectures, ideally with a background in java development.
- Experience in AIX/Linux systems.
- Excellent leadership, organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal), team player, self motivated, requiring minimal direction, good work ethic, driven to learning.
- Hands-on industry experience in WebSphere Production Environment in performance analysis, implementation, project leadership, maintenance, and technical documentation.
- Must have reasonably stable job history and excellent work ethic / high sense of urgency.
