Maintenance Supervisor

Basic Function: The Maintenance Supervisor (MS) is responsible for supervising the maintenance staff, coordinating and directing maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, security, plumbing, electrical, HVAC and other facilities while striving to keep facility costs to a minimum.

Position Responsibilities and Specific Duties:

  1. Facilities Management
    • Supervises and directs work programs for the maintenance of buildings, HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing systems, alarm systems, lighting, landscaping and parking areas
    • Manage the execution of the equipment preventative maintenance (PM) and service procedures manufacturing operations and facilities.
  2. Facility Expansion / Growth
    • Participates as an active member of facility expansion projects providing both leadership and valuable job experiences to improve the effectiveness of projects.
  3. Staff Management
    • Oversees and directs maintenance and electrical personnel engaged in equipment installation, facilities equipment repair, and preventive maintenance. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, supervising and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work
    • Enforces company attendance, appearance and performance goals for the department.
  4. Environmental Health and Safety

It is the role of the maintenance department to coordinate with the HSE manager and oversee the safe, secure, and environmentally-sound operations and maintenance of all assets in a cost effective manner aimed at long-term preservation of the asset value, and also other janitorial duties such as making sure the environment is properly cleaned.

  • OSHA (Occupational Health and Safety) Regulations compliance - perform regular audits of facility
  • Waste removal - Work with HSE manager to ensure Chain of custody procedures and processes are followed.
  • HAZMAT (Hazardous Material) - Work closely with HSE Manager to ensure all areas of facility are in compliance
  1. Metrics and Measurement
    • Completion of all assigned development projects within reasonable schedule, budget and manpower parameters, taking into consideration project complexity and risk factors.
  2. ERP System Utilization
    • Can display competency with standard computing functions as well as standard Microsoft computing software; to have a thorough understanding of major Accounting Software and ERP applications.

Education

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) or equivalent; or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certifications / Licenses

Preferred: Labor and Industries (L&I) Master Electrician certificate

Experience

Minimum of 5 years supervisorial experience in facilities management with extensive knowledge in HVAC system, machine maintenance (CNC preferred), electrical systems and management of a maintenance staff. Individual must have a demonstrated understanding of the MS-Office Suite of productivity tools and ERP systems. One must have strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize assignments.

Preferred: Experience utilizing CMMS or CAFM software package
