Position Summary:

This position will operate an industrial forklift to perform material handling assignments. Identify and transport material to and from storage areas and loading dock. Operate forklift/high-lift in order to lower stock to ground level pick-level slots from higher level reserve slots during night shift & day shift, and to put received stock in higher level storage slots during the day shift using safe operating practices.

Responsibilities:

Slots received merchandise according to the slot location designated to ensure that product is easily located by night stockers and order selectors. Stocks all pick slots in assigned area to ensure that there are no empty pick slots at the end of the day, while monitoring all dated and perishable product. Rotates products daily during the receiving-stocking activities using the first-in-first-out (FIFO) method of dropping overstocks down to picking slots as vacancy allows to provide proper rotation and reduce product waste. Places product onto overstock slots if picking slots are filled; locates place for products when slots are filled to ensure product is removed from aisle and is off floor. Locates and delivers product to slots that are empty as requested by the selector in an effort to enhance the efficiency of the selection process. Checks all pick slots for any damaged or opened boxes, repairs minor rips in cases or bags. When unable to do minor repairs, writes up damaged product with quantity, slot number, item number, pack size and description. Monitors warehouse for signs of rodent infestation; notifies manager if signs are identified in an effort to reduce product loss. Cleans up all spillage, removes any product stored on the floor, sweeps the warehouse floor, pulls all shrink wrap tape or string from slots, and performs other activities assigned in an effort to reduce accidents and enhance sanitation. Stacks all empty pallets into proper location and separates broken and unusable pallets from usable pallets; cleans aisles of all debris in an effort to reduce accidents.

Qualifications:

The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities that an individual must possess to perform the essential functions of this job:

High School diploma or equivalent One (1) year warehouse experience One year Forklift and pallet jack experience Six month warehouse distribution experience Must be able to lift 30-50 pounds regularly, 75 pounds occasionally and 100 pounds rarely

Equipment Operation:

Conforms to appropriate equipment (i.e. tugs, forklifts, pallet jacks) operation rules and practices in an effort to reduce accidents and injuries. Ensures that assigned equipment is maintained and clean and reports repair or service needs to the equipment mechanic in an effort to reduce equipment damage. Observes all safety rules, regulations, and sanitation policies in an effort to reduce accidents, injuries, and equipment damage. Uses equipment horns when driving out of storage areas into unobstructed view areas, and when entering walk-ways or row intersections in an effort to reduce accidents, injuries, and equipment damage. Plugs batteries into power outlet when not in use to ensure the availability of fully operational equipment.

Certifications and/or Technical Requirements:

Pallet Jack and Forklift certification preferred. Other Essential Functions:

Working knowledge of the following: inventory control techniques and procedures, forms associated with inventory control, product lines and their dimensions; products sold by Sysco; Sysco safety and security policies; equipment associated with warehouse activities and the operation of the equipment is a plus. Must be able to manage the pressures and stress associated with a deadline-oriented atmosphere. Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities that may be required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

Works in a warehouse environment with various levels of temperature and noise
