Operations is one of the largest divisions in the firm and has diverse responsibilities, including correctly settling and recording millions of transactions per day, identifying and mitigating all operational risks, developing strong client relationships and partnering with technology to realize the full potential of IT and e-solutions. Global Wealth Management Operations provides brokerage, investment and financial services to hundreds of thousands of individual investors. We apply our expertise in serving institutional clients to create new opportunities for people to achieve their personal financial goals. Morgan Stanley has one of the largest retail brokerage networks, with numerous worldwide representatives and retail locations. Our services are tailored to each client's investment objectives, risk tolerance, and financial needs. Products include mutual funds, stocks, bonds, and alternative investments where appropriate, as well as banking, mortgages, insurance and annuities.

The Tax Operations department is an enterprise wide firm utility, handling all areas of US taxes and reportable income for both institutional clients and Morgan Stanley entities. Tax Operations is responsible for ensuring US tax withholding done at Morgan Stanley conforms with US tax law, is reported as per IRS regulations to both MS clients and the Internal Revenue Service, and new products and transaction types are evaluated for US tax impact. Tax Operations face an unprecedented pace of regulatory and business change which is driving to improve the group's operating model, business processes and system capabilities, and we expect the pace of change to accelerate as the new regulatory environment clarifies. The Tax Department currently has an opening for a Director to supervise and manage various reconciliations, information reporting's (both client {i.e. Form 1099R}, IRS and State filings as well firm filings {i.e. 945/1042}), as well as Federal and State deposits.

Tax Operations is looking for a candidate with 3-5 years of tax experience in the financial industry to assist in running the day to day operations of the Tax team.

The successful candidate will operate across multiple entities, performing a variety of functions and must be:

- Skilled with vast knowledge of information reporting

- Ability to work in a time sensitive environment

- Good team player

Requirements:

- Ability to multitask and take ownership of complex issues.

- Attention to detail and meeting deadlines.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Management and leadership experience.

- Good analytical and mathematical skills.

- Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Excel.

- Knowledge of US tax withholding and reporting regulations.

- FBAR knowledge of information reporting requirements for Entity and Authority Signature

- A good understanding of Operations, Tax and/or FATCA knowledge a plus

- Advanced MS Office skills, including MS Project/ MS PowerPoint

- Demonstrated problem solving and business analysis skills, i.e. the ability to structure an approach to work through and solve complex and ill-defined problems and issues.
