POSITION OVERVIEW: The Assistant Store Manager assists the Store Manager in managing and controlling the operations of the store to ensure that company standards and expectations are consistently met; supervises areas assigned by the Store Manager and follows the dd's DISCOUNTS philosophy and policies researches to customers, Associates and merchandising. Responsible for learning all phases of store operations. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Manager is responsible for the entire store operation and will execute the business plan and associated programs that will deliver the desired sales and profit results, while maintaining good quality customer service. RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for all aspects of Store Operations in the absence of the Store Manager Ensure that Company Standards and Expectations are met Executes business plan to deliver desired sales and profit Maintains good quality Customer Service Assists in recruiting, training and developing Associates Drives shortage control programs to deliver desired shortage results COMPETENCIES: Customer Service Business Expertise Development of Teams and People Communication QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: At least 2 years management experience in a retail environment Demonstrated ability to lead, manage motivate and communicate positively with store associates at all levels. Ability to train, coach and develop Associates Must have highly developed organizational skills and ability to prioritize Must exercise considerable independent judgment and discretion Ability to work variety of shifts Must be able to move around all areas of the store.
