General Statement of Job

Under general supervision, this position will work with both Port Supply and West Marine Associates to assist in achieving the sales and gross margin results for Port Supply products. He or She is the "In-Store" liaison between West Marine Associates and Port Supply customers. They provide an exemplary customer experience by phone and in-person by asking the customer questions to determine their needs and engaging the customer with their product knowledge, suggestive selling items for the customer's immediate needs and recommending additional items and/or services that will compliment the customers' destination or boating experience. They handle returns of merchandise and store merchandising, stocking and maintenance activities. They will perform related work as required. This position reports to the Port Supply In-Store Manager.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions

* Answer and respond to the Port Supply Hot Line.

* Serve as Primary Contact to the Watsonville Support Center.

* Work with Associates to achieve Port Supply's sales plan. Strive to achieve individual sales plan.

* Assists in developing prospective customers.

* Implement EUFA (Engage Customers, Understand the Customers, Fulfill Customers' needs completely, Add Value by adding on).

* Treat Associates, customers and vendors better than they expect.

* Suggestively sell additional items and services that the customer may not have anticipated.

* Actively participate in programs and procedures that drive sales.

* Work with Port Supply Operations to execute a strategy to increase the use of Port Supply vans to deliver store transactions.

* Enters new customer data and other sales data for current customers into computer database.

* Assist in filling back order lists from local West Marine store(s) inventory.

* Correctly handle all register transactions.

* Handle returns/complaints graciously and effectively.

* Be aware of current promotional items and the correct pricing.

* Complete assigned tasks in Daily Checklist, Weekly Checklist, Monthly Checklist and Master Checklist.

* Log in to the online Store Bulletin each day worked to read and complete assigned action items.

* Work with fellow Associates to maintain that Asset Protection standards are met at all times.

* Manage department financials.

Additional Job Functions.

* Ensure the store is neat, clean and organized throughout each business day.

* Know where products are located within the store.

* Answer the telephone within three rings.

* Responsible for ordering supplies and fixtures.

* Receive and display product shipments on store retail shelves within twenty-four hours of delivery.

* Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Training and Experience

Prior boating and sales experience helpful. Excellent communication skills. Must be able to work a standard workday as set by West Marine. Must be able to lift forty pounds to shoulder height unassisted. Must be proficient in Math and English. Must have the ability to wear and communicate through a headset. Must have a flexible schedule and be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
