Bartender

Purpose for the Position:

To mix and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to patrons of bar, following standard recipes and to promote food sales.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Mixes ingredients, such as liquor, soda, water, sugar and bitters to prepare cocktails and other drinks.
• Serves wine draught, bottled beer, non-alcoholic beverages and food.
• Collects money for drinks served.
• Orders and requisitions liquors and supplies.
• Places bottled goods and glasses to make an attractive display.
• Washes glasses, bar and equipment.
• Stocks and replenishes glasses, beverages, mixes, fruit and guest supplies.
• May slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks.
• May prepare appetizers, such as pickles, cheese and cold meats.
• Reports to work for scheduled shift, on time and in uniform in accordance with company policy.
• Knows and complies with all company policies and procedures pertaining to this position and its duties.
• Takes the initiative to greet guests in a friendly and warm manner.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Skills & Abilities:

• Use arithmetic to total costs and make change.
• Talk with different kinds of people to find out what services they want and to give them information.
• Stand or walk for varying lengths of time, sometimes for long periods.
• Move fingers and hand easily and quickly to handle things like dishes, money and merchandise.
• Lift and carry things like heavy trays.

Physical Demands:

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) and/or negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree.

Environmental Conditions:

Inside: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. A job is considered “inside” if the worker spends approximately 75 percent or more of the time inside.
