About this job

Admits patients to the hospital based on multiple types of service, prioritizes registrations accordingly and engages in all necessary follow through. Obtains pertinent information from patient, determines insurance coverage and informs patients or their representatives of financial requirements, collecting when necessary according to hospital policy. Representative will maintain good public relations and rapport with hospital personnel, physicians and their staff, insurance companies, and patients/representatives. Representative will assist in the daily operation of patient registration acting as a resource for all co-workers. Position reports directly to the Patient Access Coordinator.

A. EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent.

B. EXPERIENCE

Minimum two year hospital registration experience and/or related training. Ability to deal with stressful situations involving the public, physicians/staff and insurance companies on a daily basis. Direct data entry in a timely, efficient and accurate manner as specified by established QA requirements. Must type 35 WPM. Mathematical skills for determining patient copays/deductibles due.

C. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to maintain a professional manner when communicating with staff and all outside contacts. Capable of resolving registration conflicts as may be required to perform daily functions as specified in position responsibilities. Capable of maintaining confidential materials such as patient information. Ability to collect money due for services rendered and/or counsel patients in expectations of resolving their debt.
