Cypress Creek Hospital, located in north Houston, has been faithfully serving the Houston and surrounding communities for over 18 years. Cypress Creek is a fully accredited 96-bed hospital dedicated to the provision of quality care and assistance for individuals and families in need of psychiatric care and treatment for substance abuse. Cypress Creek Hospital offers the community a broad range of inpatient, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient services for adolescents and adults. The hospital offers 24-hour behavioral health emergency services. Our physician-directed staff of registered nurses, social workers, therapists, mental health technicians and drug abuse counselors bring both skill and compassion to the individualized treatment program for both patient and family. Cypress Creek Hospital currently has a Registered Nurse position available. The candidate selected will be responsible for the following:
The RN is responsible for implementing and evaluating patient care on the CD/Adult/Adolescent units for providing supervision and guidance for nursing staff members for assuming responsibilities delegated by the Director of Nursing or House Supervisor for personal and professional growth and development.
Completes patient admissions process, including nursing assessment.
Documents ongoing patient assessments/progress clearly and concisely.
Medication management.
Participates as member of interdisciplinary treatment team.
Ensures nursing interventions.
Provides milieu management and unit team leadership.
Provides appropriate nursing intervention/documentation in crisis situations.
Reports unsafe conditions.
Provides age-specific communication, limit setting and interventions.
Provides health education to patients and their families.
Prepares and adheres to facility patient discharge process.
Interacts with patients and staff in professional manner, promotes teamwork and demonstrates Service Excellence
Attends mandatory staff meetings.
Performs other duties as assigned.
The following are the job requirements for the Registered Nurse position:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program. Licensed by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas (or licensed in a compact state).
One year adult/adolescent psychiatric and/or chemical dependency nursing experience preferred.
Knowledge of nursing practices and procedures
Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnosis, treatment, planning intervention and evaluation of psychiatric patients
Ability to administer medication/treatments and monitor for effectiveness and side effects
Knowledge of milieu management, ability to safely implement special treatment procedures
Ability to provide leadership to team members, delegate responsibilities and monitor performance
Skills in developing therapeutic relationships with adults, adolescents and their families
Skills in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation
Skills in providing education to patients and families about their health needs
Skill in oral and written communication skill in the operation of nursing equipment
Ability to plan, organize and conduct patient care processes in a timely manner
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITON:
Must be willing and able to execute the patient de-escalation methods, both verbal and physical.
Must be able to complete new hire requirements such as nationwide background check and drug testing.
Must be able to demonstrate special training, knowledge and skills specific to age groups, as well as job and/or program specific competency within the first three (3) months of training.
Must be certified in CPR and CPI within the first month of training and annually thereafter.
Must complete all mandatory in-services annually.
Must be tested for Tuberculosis with a PPD skin test or chest x-ray upon hire PPD evaluation annually thereafter
Must be able to complete new hire requirements such as nationwide background check and drug testing.
