Optum Data Management is an organization that prides itself on innovation in the healthcare data management space that includes data warehousing, Big Data scenarios, business intelligence and healthcare analytics and data integration and enrichment. The company is seeking a healthcare experienced technical writer with strong business and technical skills who understands data management principles and who works well in team and independent environments.

Technical Writer Tasks:



  • Works directly with development teams to gather system design documents and transform to marketing and sales format for non-technical audiences.

  • Gather and research information that is both internally generated and available from public sources, integrate it and use it to create technical white-papers and marketing documentation.

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute projects independently and under general direction to deliver accurate and timely user-oriented content.

  •  Write technical materials such as:



    • Business oriented Web content

    • Request For Proposal responses for commercial sales opportunities

    • Customer training materials

    • Newsletters, bulletins and technology updates

    • User guides, training materials, system manuals, on-line help

    • White papers

    • Operating and maintenance instructions

    • Sales information


  • Represent the team and the Optum organization on project assignments

Required Skills:


  • Must be able to work with Developers in technical and non-technical capacities

  • Excellent research and communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft word, PowerPoint, Excel

  • Business and Systems Analysis experience

  • Experience in Gathering requirements

  • Experience in Technical Documentation

  • Ability to interact, collaborate and write with and for multiple teams across all levels of the organization including development, product marketing, customer support, and training.

  • Ability to plan, schedule, communicate and execute content delivery

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Technical Writing, Social Media or a IT related field or 6+ years of equivalent practical experience

  • 5+ years of experience writing technical user manuals, help documentation or technical marketing literature preferably in a healthcare oriented data management, business intelligence and information delivery environment


  • 5+ years experience with software development methodologies, business analysis or systems analysis or 5+ years technical writing in a healthcare environment – preferably experienced in data management principles and terminology.



  • 5+ years experience in Microsoft word, PowerPoint, Excel



  • 5+ years experience data conversion skills across a variety of formats


 Preferred Qualifications:


  • Healthcare experience

  • Knowledge of Big Data Technology

  • Experience with Web Development
