Part Time Accountant/Bookkeeper/Human Resource Assistant



A local non-profit organization that enriches lives and strengthens the community as a whole by providing a vibrant and welcoming place for community engagement is seeking administrative support. The Center delivers dynamic high quality cultural, educational, and recreational classes, camps, and workshops and memorable special events. The friendly atmosphere, innovative programming, and planned revitalization of the facility provide an enticing gathering place for residents located 12 miles northeast of downtown Pittsburgh.



Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 2 years experience

  • Must pass a criminal background and child abuse history clearance check

    Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • This position requires frequent sitting and using hands or fingers to manipulate touch or handle, rarely requires bending, stooping crouching, kneeling or crawling, using feet or hands to reach, grip, hold, push, pull or climb. The position will require periodic lifting or pushing of up to 15 pounds, rarely up to 30 pounds.

    The Accountant/Bookkeeper role is critical to achieving the mission and accounting functions. This part time position generally reports 24 hours/week during business hours and may require periodically working on nights and weekends. This will grow into a full-time position.

    The Accountant/Bookkeeper reports to the Executive Director, works directly with the Operations Director and supports all staff and areas of the organization.

    Responsibilities:



    Bookkeeping

    Oversee and manage internal controls including:
    • Perform accounts payable and check preparation
    • Manage payroll
    • Prepare bank deposits and monitor bank accounts
    • Process all transactions through Quickbooks
    • Reconcile monthly bank statements
    • Prepare monthly financial statements for the Board of Directors
    • Assist with yearly budget preparation
    • Prepare and coordinate activities and documentation for annual audit and filings
    • Track payment and contract obligations
    • Complete and file 1099
    • Maintain archived records
    • Attend and support special events performing duties as assigned
    • All other duties as assigned


    Human Resource Responsibilities
    • Maintain personnel files
    • Obtain clearances for all employees and instructors
    • Prepare new hire packets and ensure completeness
    • Assist with renewal of medical and liability insurance ( including census reporting for CCLA)
    • Maintain current certificate of Insurance for all Independent Contractors
    • Send out and track all Instructor Contracts, W9, disclosure document
