Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision of the Food Service Supervisor I, the Food Service Technician II acts as the lead worker in the Main Dining Room. The incumbent serves and or assists with the preparation of foods and beverages, cleans and maintains food service equipment, utensils, and work areas as required. May instruct, lead or supervise a small group of Food Service Technician Is and/or volunteers.

Practice good personal hygiene. Follow departmental guidelines for the proper handling and storage of food and supplies. Wear approved hair covering and aprons. Follow dress code. Report any unsafe or unsanitary conditions immediately to supervisor on duty.

Read menus for regular and modified therapeutic diets. Assist in meal preparation, service and distribution of food and clean up. Instruct, direct, lead, communicate, and coordinate duties of the day by working with food service staff. Accurately serve meals, nourishments, and secondary meal items in accordance with the therapeutic menus, the dietitian and supervisor's instruction. Prepare and serve beverages. Notify cooks or supervisors immediately if there is something missing or running low on the serving line. Record equipment temperature and notify supervisor if equipment is not working properly.

Record food temperatures and leftover foods on the serving line. Safely operate, clean and maintain food service equipment. Dish up for any special food items used for Meals on Wheels (MOW). Set up MOW trays, review and assist putting away supplies. Assists residents at meal time and maintain proper temperatures.

May act as a charge person in the absence of a supervisor. Train newly hired Food Service Technicians. Work at various sites as needed to meet staffing requirements. Assist co-workers with special clean up or extra jobs as related. Fill in for resident volunteer absences, e.g., MOW, Main Dining Room Checker, Deli/Nourishment/Breakfast Club, and Dishwasher.

Understand and practice good customer relation skills and maintain good relationships with peers, residents, personnel from other areas and all public contacts. Maintain an environment, which protects the rights, dignity, confidentiality and physical/emotional wellbeing of the residents at all times.

Maintain daily reports and records.

Attend and participate in department and facility trainings. Attend and participate in department, facility and in-service training classes and regular monthly staff meetings.

Other duties as related.
